ALLIANCE OF VETERINARIANS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT (AVE)

...health for all creatures great and small

Our Mission - The Alliance of Veterinarians for the Environment (AVE) is dedicated to promoting environmental health and the conservation of nature through education and research within the veterinary profession

...Our Mutual Concerns

The Alliance of Veterinarians for the Environment (AVE) is a membership organization for veterinarians and others interested in building upon the connections between animal health and well-being and environmental and ecosystem health. Currently, the organization supports more than 225 members and we are in the process of setting up committees to advance and promote membership, environmental education products, newsletter publication, and liaisons with other organizations both within and outside the profession of veterinary medicine.

AVE's logo is a prism - building a vision for environmental education through the profession of veterinary medicine, one person at a time, exponentially.

The tiny magical seahorse is the original symbol of partnership between the co-founders of the Alliance of Veterinarians for the Environment, Drs. Leslie Dierauf and Gwen Griffith, both veterinarians. Leslie Dierauf began her work in veterinary medicine in the field of marine mammals and marine and aquatic ecology, and Gwen Griffith for many years was an equine clinician. Both are also avid SCUBA divers with an intense interest in reef ecology and ocean conservation, so the choice of a symbol representing a mythical horse of the sea was a natural one!

After exploring our web site, if you have an interest in AVE, any of its activities and want to know how you might take part directly in the work of the organization, please contact one of our Board Members.
